Willda Madden (1879 – 1967)

Alwillda Madden was born November 15, 1879 in Dixon, California, to John Rightmire Madden and Mary Jane McFadyen. When John was just a youngster in 1852, the Maddens came via Panama from Ohio to seek their fortune in the California gold fields. By 1870, the family had given up mining and a livery business and had settled on their ranch in Silveyville where John married Mary Jane McFadyen, whose family was originally from Prince Edward Island and also came across the Isthmus of Panama with her sister to join their brother in 1867. In the 1900 census, Alwillda can be found living In Dixon with her parents and two brothers. She continued to live in Dixon with her unmarried brother, a farmer. She was an active member of her church and Eastern Star. Willda died August 7, 1967, and is buried in the Silveyville/Dixon Cemetery.
