Mildred Fischer (1878-1928)

Mildred’s grandparents were immigrants from German who arrived in the Sacramento Valley in 1852 in a wagon train with several small children in tow. Mildred was born in July 1876 in Winters, Yolo County where the Fischer family settled. Her mother died when she was very young, and in the 1880 census she is listed with her grandparents, Adam and Caroline Diehr Fischer and her widowed father William. In the 1900 census, she and grandmother Caroline (the mother of 11 children, 4 still living) are enumerated in Dixon. Mildred married Gustave Schulze, a member of another pioneer German family, in 1904 at the home of her grandmother. She died August 31, 1928 and is buried in the Silveyville/Dixon Cemetery.
