Mary R. Kirby (1874-1967)

Mary Ruth Kirby was the daughter of Abraham Kirby and Mary Martin. Abraham was born in England and immigrated as an infant to Ohio. After his marriage to Mary, they sailed via Panama for California in 1865. He became a prominent and well-regarded druggist first in Vacaville, then Silveyville and Dixon. Mary was born in 1874. In the 1900 census, she is listed as a school teacher residing with her parents and brother in Dixon. She married John Albert (Bert) Little, a widower with three small children. They made their home on a farm just outside Dixon for a number of years before moving into town. She died in 1967 and is buried in the Silveyville/Dixon Cemetery.
